FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE October 7, 2008 |
PUBLIC’S HELP SOUGHT IN SEARCH FOR “PLAYBOY BANDIT”Robert D. Grant, Special Agent-in-Charge of the Chicago office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is asking for the public’s help in identifying the individual depicted in the attached wanted flyer, who is believed responsible for the armed robbery of a south suburban bank in September of this year. The theft occurred on September 11, 2008, at the Charter One Bank branch, located at 12004 South Pulaski Road in Alsip, Illinois. According to witnesses, the robber entered the bank and approached a teller, placing a small gym bag on her counter. He then pulled a silver colored handgun from the bag and orally announced a robbery, threatening the teller with harm if his demands for cash were not met. After obtaining an undisclosed amount of money, the robber fled the bank on foot, last seen running north on Pulaski Road. The “Playboy Bandit” is described as a white/male, 40 - 45 years of age, 5’6” - 5’ 9” tall, heavy build, with dark hair. He was wearing a grey button down jacket and blue jeans. He has been given the moniker “Playboy Bandit” due to the blue colored baseball style cap with distinctive white rabbit head logo that he wore during the robbery. Anyone recognizing this individual or having any information about this robbery is asked to call the Chicago FBI at (312) 421-6700. EDITOR’S NOTE: Additional copies of the attached wanted flyer are available from the Chicago FBI’s press office at (312) 829-1199.
