REWARD OFFERED IN BERWYN ARMORED CAR ROBBERY

Robert D. Grant, Special Agent-in-Charge of the Chicago office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) announced today that a reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for information leading to the identification and arrest of the individual responsible for the July 8, 2008 robbery of a Brinks armored truck courier.

The robbery took place outside the Fifth Third Bank branch, located at 7112 West Cermak Road in Berwyn, Illinois. The Brinks truck was making a scheduled pick-up from the bank just before 9:00 AM. As the courier was returning to the armored truck, he was confronted by an armed robber, who orally announced a robbery and ordered the courier to hand over the money bag that he was carrying.

The robber then fled the area on foot, escaping with a substantial amount of cash. He was last seen entering an older model Nissan Maxima, white in color, which was parked nearby. The license plates on the vehicle were covered with a rag or cloth, which obscured the plate number.

The robber was described by witnesses as a black/male, 5’ 10” tall, 200 lbs., medium build, wearing a dark colored sweatshirt.

Anyone having any information about this robbery is asked to call the Chicago FBI at (312) 421-6700.

This case is being investigated by the Chicago FBI’s Violent Crimes Task Force, which is comprised of FBI Special Agents, Detectives from the Chicago Police Department and Investigators from the Cook County Sheriff’s office.

EDITOR’S NOTE: Additional copies of the attached wanted flyer are available from the Chicago FBI’s press office at (312) 829-1199.
