REWARD OFFERED IN ARMORED CAR THEFTRobert D. Grant, Special Agent-in-Charge of the Chicago office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) announced today that a reward of up to $10,000 was being offered for information leading to the identification and arrest of the individuals responsible for the October 3, 2007 theft of an undisclosed amount of currency from a Thillens Armored car. The theft occurred at approximately 11:30 AM as the armored car was making a scheduled stop at the Luster Security office, located at 1104 West 43rd Street in Chicago. According to witnesses, the armored car was locked and parked in front of the Luster office, while the guards went inside. As they were conducting business in the Luster office, a Luster security guard who was watching the armored car was distracted by an unknown individual, who is depicted in the attached surveillance photograph. He is described as a black/male, 30-40 years of age, 6'0" tall, medium to heavy build, balding and wearing a grey polo shirt. This individual arrived in a blue colored mini-van, make and model not determined. While the guards were distracted, a second individual, described only as a black/male, medium to heavy build, wearing a light colored shirt and a dark colored jacket with a hood, exited the same blue mini-van, approached the armored car, and somehow opened a locked door. He then took a tray containing cash from the back of the armored car and placed it into the mini-van. Both men then re-entered the mini-van and fled the area. No weapons were displayed and no injuries were reported during the theft. The reward offer is being made jointly by the FBI and Thillens, Inc. Investigation of this theft is being conducted by the Chicago FBI's Violent Crimes Task Force (VCTF), which is comprised of FBI Special Agents, Detectives from the Chicago Police Department (CPD) and Investigators from the Cook County Sheriff's Police. Anyone recognizing this individual or having information about any of these robberies is asked to call the Chicago FBI at (312) 421-6700. EDITOR'S
