$5,000 REWARD OFFERED IN SEARCH FOR DRUG FUGITIVE

Robert D. Grant, Special Agent-in-Charge of the Chicago Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)announced today that a reward of up to $5,000 is being offered for information that leads to the location and arrest of of MARIO RIVERA, whose last known address is 3632 South Parnell in Chicago.

RIVERA has been the subject of a nationwide manhunt since July 2003, when a criminal complaint was filed in U.S. District Court in Chicago charging RIVERA with violations of federal drug law. RIVERA was among 25 people charged in connection with an investigation code named "Operation Corner Pocket." According to the complaint, those charged were involved in an international drug trafficking operation, which used the Chicago area as its main trans-shipment point in the United States for multi-kilogram quantities of both cocaine and marijuana. The complaint further describes RIVERA's role as one of the three main suppliers in the Chicago area for multi-kilogram quantities of cocaine.

RIVERA has family members who reside in the Chicago area and he has previously lived in Omaha, Nebraska.

RIVERA is an avid pool player and frequents pool halls where he often plays for money.

The public is reminded that a complaint is not evidence of guilt and that all defendants in a criminal case are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
