PUBLIC'S HELP SOUGHT IN SEARCH FOR MURDER SUSPECT
Robert D. Grant, Special Agent-in-Charge of the Chicago Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), along with the Elk Grove Village, Illinois Police Department are seeking the public's assistance in providing information that will lead to the arrest of JUVENAL SALTO, who is wanted in connection with the January 28, 2005, murder of a male individual in a restaurant parking lot in Elk Grove Village, Illinois.
SALTO was charged in a criminal complaint filed on January 30, 2005, in the Circuit Court of Cook County, Illinois, with First Degree Murder. Thereafter, on February 3, 2005, SALTO was charged in a criminal complaint in U.S. District Court in Chicago with one count of Unlawful Flight to Avoid Prosecution. According to the federal complaint, SALTO is alleged to have shot a man in the early morning hours of January 28, 2005, who was sitting in a car with SALTO's wife. Investigation revealed that SALTO appeared with a gun and confronted the victim. After SALTO's wife fled, several gun shots were heard. The victim was later found in the vehicle shot to death.
Since the shooting incident, the Elk Grove Village Police Department have been unable to locate SALTO. Police have determined that a cell phone used by SALTO's son, showed calls to New York, Tennessee, and Arizona following the incident.
More recent information received revealed that SALTO may have traveled to Nocupetaro, Michoacan, Mexico.
The public is reminded that a complaint is not evidence of guilt and that all defendants in a criminal case are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
