ROSELLE BANK ROBBERY SUSPECT
ARRESTED IN SEATTLE

Robert D. Grant, Special Agent-in-Charge of the Chicago Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and James Kruger, Chief of the Roselle, Illinois Police Department (RPD) announced today the arrest of GREGORY M. PATZER, age 28, whose last known address was on Salem Drive in Schaumburg, Illinois. PATZER was arrested by Officers of the Seattle, Washington Police Department Friday morning, without incident. PATZER was subsequently turned over to FBI Agents in Seattle.

Prior to his arrest, PATZER had been the subject of a nationwide manhunt coordinated by the Chicago FBI since being charged in a criminal complaint filed in U.S. District Court in Chicago with the February 28, 2007 robbery of the Mutual Bank, 801 East Nerge Road in Roselle. According to the complaint, an individual subsequently identified as PATZER entered the Mutual Bank at noon, approached a teller and announced a robbery. He opened up his coat to display a handgun that was tucked into the waistband of his pants. However, no shots were fired and no injuries reported during the robbery.

After obtaining approximately $3500 in cash from the teller, PATZER fled the area in a vehicle that was parked outside. An alert bank employee, realizing that the bank was being robbed, was able to obtain the license plate number of the vehicle, which was traced to PATZER. Subsequent investigation by the Chicago FBI's Lisle office and the RPD, identified PATZER as the robber and led to the filing of the charges against him.

PATZER appeared in U.S. District Court in Seattle, earlier today, at which time he was ordered held without bond, pending his return to Chicago. The public is reminded that a complaint is not evidence of guilt and that all defendants in a criminal case are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
