IN GEORGIA
Robert D. Grant, Special Agent-in-Charge
of the Chicago Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and
Gregory Jones, Special Agent- in-Charge of the Atlanta Office of the FBI,
announced today the arrest of FINNIE HAWKINS, age 32, whose last known
address was 6204 South Vernon Avenue in Chicago, Illinois. HAWKINS was
arrested yesterday morning, without incident, by FBI Agents in Atlanta
as he was exiting an apartment at 1680 Chantilly Drive.
coordinated by the Chicago FBI since evading capture and fleeing from
the Chicago area in May of 2004. HAWKINS was charged in a criminal complaint
filed in U.S. District Court in Chicago, along with 46 other known and
suspected members of the Black Disciples street gang, with numerous violations
of federal drug laws.
The investigation leading to the filing of these charges, code named "Operation
Marveless", targeted one of the largest and most violent street gangs
in Chicago, which effectively took control of entire neighborhoods which
they used as a base of operations for their drug trade. HAWKINS himself
was alleged to be a high ranking member of the Black P Stone Nation and
worked with the Black Disciples in the distribution of illegal drugs.
Information leading to HAWKINS location and arrest was obtained from a
viewer of the television show "America's Most Wanted" , which profiled
HAWKINS in November of 2006.
HAWKINS is scheduled to appear in U.S. District Court in Atlanta, later
today, at which time the government will seek to have HAWKINS held without
bond, pending his return to Chicago.
A nationwide manhunt for DONNELL JEHAN, the last remaining fugitive from
this investigation who is depicted on the attached wanted flyer, is still
underway. Anyone recognizing JEHAN or having any information about his
current whereabouts, is asked to call the Chicago FBI at (312) 421-6700.
The investigation leading to charges filed in this case was conducted
by the Chicago FBI's Joint Task Force on Gangs, which is comprised of
FBI Special Agents and Gang Crimes Officers from the Chicago Police Department
(CPD).
