SUSPECTED SERIAL BANK ROBBER ARRESTED

Robert D. Grant, Special Agent-in-Charge of the Chicago office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI); Philip J. Cline, Superintendent of the Chicago Police Department (CPD) and Thomas Dart, Cook County Sheriff announced today the arrest of OMNI T. WALTON, age 25, whose last known address was 6818 South Paulina in Chicago. WALTON was arrested earlier today, without incident, by members of the Chicago FBI's Violent Crimes Task Force, assisted by Officers from CPD's 4th District, in the 5100 block of South Ashland Avenue.

WALTON was wanted by the FBI in Oklahoma for the armed robbery of two banks in December of 2006. He is also a suspect in the armed robbery of as many as twenty (20) businesses in and the State of Oklahoma during past two months.

WALTON is being held at the Metropolitan Correctional Center (MCC) in Chicago, pending his next scheduled court appearance, at which time his return to Oklahoma City will be sought. If convicted of the charges pending against him, WALTON faces a possible sentence of up to 20 years incarceration.

The Chicago FBI's VCTF is comprised of FBI Special Agents, Detectives from the CPD and Investigators from the Cook County Sheriff's Police Department.

The public is reminded that a complaint is not evidence of guilt and that all defendants in a criminal case are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
