SUSPECT SOUGHT IN DOLTON BANK ROBBERY

Robert D. Grant, Special Agent-in-Charge of the Chicago Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is asking for the public's help in identifying the individual depicted in the attached photographs, who is responsible for the September 13, 2006 armed robbery of the Heritage Community Bank

branch, located at 550 East Sibley Blvd., in Dolton. According to witnesses, this individual entered the bank brandishing a handgun and ordering employees and customers to the floor. He threatened to kill anyone who failed to comply with his demands. After taking control of the bank, he forced a bank employee to open the vault and fill a tote bag that he brought with him with cash. He then fled the bank on foot through the back door, with his last direction and mode of escape not observed.

Confusion on the part of bank employees led Dolton Police to believe that the robber was still inside the bank, holding one or more employees and/or customers hostage. After a three hour siege, it was determined that the robber had in fact fled and that no hostages were being held.

The robber was described by witnesses as a black/male, 20-25 years of age, 5'5" - 5'10" tall, 140 - 180 pounds, medium build, with black hair and brown eyes. He was wearing a plaid colored flannel jacket, dark pants and a baseball style cap with a "C" on the front. He used a nylon stocking pulled down over his face to conceal his identity.

It is further believed that the robber was driven to the bank by an unknown individual in a late model, light colored, four door automobile, possibly a Buick LeSabre or Chevrolet Lumina. This vehicle was also captured on bank surveillance cameras and is depicted on the attached flyer.

In appealing to the public for help, Mr. Grant noted the boldness with which this robbery was committed. "An armed taker-over of a bank branch, filled with customers and employees, is a worse case scenario for law enforcement, with a tremendous potential for violence", Grant said. "The person that committed this robbery is most certainly capable of violence and I feel that the public is at risk until he is identified and apprehended".

This robbery is being investigated jointly by the Chicago FBI's Orland Park office and the Dolton Police Department. Anyone recognizing this individual or having any information about this robbery is asked to call the Chicago FBI at (312) 421-6700.
