May 2, 2006 REWARD OFFERED FOR DRUG FUGITIVE Robert D. Grant, Special Agent-in-Charge of the Chicago Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) announced today that a reward of up to $10,000 was being offered for information leading to the location and arrest of former Niles resident MANUEL DeJESUS MEDINA. MEDINA has been the subject of an international manhunt since February of 2003, when he disappeared from his horse ranch in far south suburban Grant Park, Illinois. At the time, MEDINA was on a court ordered bond of one million dollars while awaiting trial in U.S. District Court in Chicago on drug conspiracy charges. MEDINA was charged in a criminal complaint following his arrest in September of 2002, after he and two accomplices allegedly attempted to accept delivery of a 150 kilogram shipment of cocaine. MEDINA is described as a Hispanic/male, 45 years of age, 5'11" tall, 195 pounds, hazel eyes and black hair with a thick mustache, whose last known address was 9749 Huber Oval Lane in Niles, Illinois. MEDINA is a naturalized U.S. citizen who was born in Durango, Mexico. MEDINA was featured this past weekend on "Chicago's Most Wanted", which airs on WFLD-TV on Saturday evenings. If convicted of the charges that are pending against him, MEDINA faces a possible sentence of up to 19 years incarceration. Anyone recognizing MEDINA or having any information about his current whereabouts is asked to call the Chicago FBI at (312) 431-1333. The public is reminded that an indictment is not evidence of guilt and that all defendants in a criminal case are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. EDITOR's NOTE: A copy of the criminal complaint filed against MEDINA
or the attached wanted poster is available from the Chicago FBI Press
Office at (312) 786-2645. |
