CHICAGO MOB FUGITIVE APPREHENDED

Robert D. Grant, Special Agent-in-Charge of the Chicago Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) announced today the arrest of JOSEPH LOMBARDO, age 77, whose last known address was in Chicago, Illinois. LOMBARDO was arrested earlier this evening, without incident, by FBI Special Agents outside a residence on 74th Avenue in Elmwood Park, Illinois.

LOMBARDO has been the subject of an international manhunt since being charged in an indictment returned by a Federal Grand Jury in Chicago in April of 2005 with Racketeering.

LOMBARDO will be held overnight at the Metropolitan Correctional Center (MCC) in Chicago. No date or time has been set for LOMBARDO'S court appearance, which will be held in U.S. District Court in Chicago.

The public is reminded that an indictment is not evidence of guilt and that all defendants in a criminal case are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

EDITOR's NOTE: A media briefing will be held tomorrow (Saturday) at 10:00 AM in the lobby of the Dirksen Federal Building, 219 South Dearborn Street in Chicago to discuss details of the arrest.
