HARWOOD HEIGHTS MAN ARRESTED FOR SEXUAL EXPLOITATION OF A MINOR

Robert D. Grant, Special Agent-in-Charge of the Chicago Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) announced today the arrest of STEVEN L. QUINN, age 44, of 4414 Newcastle in Harwood Heights, Illinois. Quinn was arrested earlier today, without incident, by FBI Special Agents in Chicago, Illinois.

QUINN was indicted by a Federal Grand Jury in Montana on January 19, 2006, charged with five (5) counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, all of which are felony offenses. The indictment alleges that QUINN met a minor child in an "on-line" chat room and after engaging in a lengthy internet relationship, enticed the child to travel to Chicago, where they engaged in illegal sexual activity. The indictment also alleges that QUINN himself traveled to Montana, where illicit sexual relations occurred.

QUINN appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Morton Denlow this afternoon, at which time he was ordered held without bond, pending his next scheduled court appearance. If convicted of the charges against him, QUINN faces a possible sentence in excess of 50 years incarceration.

The public is reminded that an indictment is not evidence of guilt and that all defendants in a criminal case are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

EDITOR's NOTE: Additional information about this investigation, including a copy of the Grand Jury Indictment, is available from the Salt Lake City FBI press office, (801) 579-4673.
