December 7, 2006 $10,000 REWARD OFFERED IN SEARCH FOR COCAINE TRAFFICKING SUSPECT Robert D. Grant, Special Agent-in-Charge of the Chicago Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) announced today that a reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for information that leads to the location and arrest of EVELYN GUZMAN, age 25, whose last known address was 3747 West Sunnyside in Chicago. GUZMAN has been the subject of a nationwide manhunt since October 2005 when she was charged with possession with intent to distribute cocaine, in an indictment returned by a Federal Grand Jury in Chicago. GUZMAN is among 23
individuals charged with drug trafficking in an investigation code named
"Operation Pale Rider." Of those charged, 16 have been arrested
and 15 have pled guilty. The remaining seven individuals, including GUZMAN,
remain at-large. They were all accused of participating in a drug trafficking
and money laundering organization directed by Noel Salgeiro-Nevarez (the
"Salgeiro Organization") that is alleged to have smuggled large
quantities of cocaine to the Chicago area while funneling large amounts
of cash into Mexico. To date, the investigation has yielded seizures of
$1.9 million in U.S. currency and 100 kilograms of cocaine. The Salgeiro Organization frequently engaged in violence in support of its drug trafficking operations, and as such, GUZMAN should be considered Armed and Dangerous. Anyone with information about GUZMAN's whereabouts is asked to call the Chicago FBI at (312) 421-6700. EDITOR'S NOTE: Additional
