VIEWER TIP LEADS TO FUGITIVE APPREHENSION

Robert D. Grant, Special Agent-in-Charge of the Chicago office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI); Philip J. Cline, Superintendent of the Chicago Police Department (CPD) and Michael F. Sheahan, Cook County Sheriff announced today the arrest of MICHAEL HILL, age 36, whose last known address was in the 4900 block of West Ohio Street in Chicago. HILL was arrested late last week, without incident, after he was found hiding inside a relative's apartment at 3521 West Franklin, also in Chicago, by members of the Chicago FBI's Violent Crimes Task Force.

HILL was charged in a grand jury indictment returned in 2005 in U.S. District Court in Chicago with one (1) count of Bank Robbery, which is a felony offense. According to the indictment, HILL was part of a sophisticated bank robbery gang that is believed responsible for the "take over" robberies of as many as four (4) Chicago banks between 2002 and 2004. During one of the robberies, which occurred at the Alliance Bank branch, 4800 South Pulaski in Chicago on February 6, 2003, a 70 year old female bank employee was shot in the leg.

A warrant for HILL's arrest was issued in July of 2005 and has been the subject of a nationwide manhunt, coordinated by the FBI's VCTF, ever since. HILL's case was profiled earlier in this year on "Chicago's Most Wanted", which airs weekly on WFLD-TV during their Saturday evening newscast. A viewer of this show recognized HILL and provided information to the VCTF, which lead to his arrest.

HILL is being held without bond at the Metropolitan Correction Center (MCC) in Chicago while awaiting trial. If convicted of the charges filed against him, HILL faces a possible sentence of up to 20 years incarceration.

The Chicago FBI's VCTF is comprised of FBI Special Agents, Detectives from the CPD and Investigators from the Cook County Sheriff's Department.

The public is reminded that an indictment is not evidence of guilt and that all defendants in a criminal case are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

EDITOR'S NOTE: A copy of the indictment filed against HILL is available from the Chicago FBI Press Office at (312) 829-1199.
