SUSPECT SOUGHT IN NORTH AVENUE ROBBERY Robert D. Grant, Special Agent-in-Charge of the Chicago Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is asking for the public's help in identifying the individual depicted in the attached photographs, who is responsible for the robbery on Monday afternoon of the Charter One Bank branch, located at 6700 West North Avenue in Chicago. According to witnesses, this individual entered the bank and approached a teller, handing her a note announcing a robbery and demanding cash from her drawer. The note implied that the robber was armed and threatened the teller with harm, if his demands were not met. After obtaining an as yet undetermined amount of cash, the robber fled the bank and escaped in a dark blue Toyota automobile. No weapon was displayed and no injuries were reported. The robber was described by witnesses as a black/male, 20-25 years of age, 5'5" - 5'7" tall, 150 pounds, medium build, with black hair and brown eyes. He was wearing a bright red T-shirt with black baggy pants. In appealing to the public for help, Mr. Grant noted that 2005 was a record year for bank robberies in the five county metropolitan Chicago area, with 240 reported, and that 2006 is on pace to equal or surpass that number. "Citizen involvement has always been an essential element of effective law enforcement, which is even more important today, given our limited resources and increased responsibilities" said Grant. This robbery is being investigated by the Chicago FBI's Violent Crimes Task Force (VCTF), which is comprised of FBI Special Agents, Detectives from the Chicago Police Department (CPD) and Investigators from the Cook County Sheriff's Police (CCSP). Anyone recognizing this individual or having any information about this robbery is asked to call the Chicago FBI at (312) 421-6700. EDITOR's NOTE: Additional copies of the attached photos are available
from the Chicago FBI Press Office, either by e-mail or courier, at (312)
