REWARD OFFERED IN ARMORED CAR ROBBERY
Robert D. Grant, Special Agent-in-Charge of the Chicago Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI); Patrick J. O'Meara, Chief of the Calumet City, Illinois Police Department (CCPD) and Robin Miles, President of United Armored Services (UAS) announced today that a reward of up to $20,000 was being offered for information leading to the identification and arrest of the individual depicted in the attached surveillance photograph, who is responsible for the shooting and robbery of a UAS guard on August 14, 2006. The reward offer is being made jointly by the FBI ($10,000) and UAS ($10,000). The shooting and robbery took place at approximately 1:00 PM as the UAS guard was leaving the Marshall Field's store at the River Oaks mall in Calumet City, after making a cash pick-up. The UAS guard was assaulted by a lone robber in the vestibule of an employee entrance to the store and was shot twice during the ensuing struggle. He remains hospitalized in fair condition. The robber was described by witnesses as a black/male, 25 - 35 years of age, 6' - 6'2" tall, medium build, with black hair, brown eyes and possible facial hair. He was wearing dark pants and a light colored shirt at the time of the robbery and was armed with a .38 caliber, blue steel revolver. The robber fled on foot into the mall, last seen headed north into a mall entrance near the Field's store. This assault and robbery is being investigated jointly by the FBI and the Calumet City Police Department.
