RANJEL, also known as "Droopy," who is wanted for violations of Federal cocaine and conspiracy laws. RANJEL has been the subject of a nationwide manhunt since the filing of a criminal complaint against 20 alleged members of the Aurora chapter of the Almighty Latin King Nation on July 23, 2002. Of the 20 alleged gang members charged, RANJEL is the only individual to evade capture. According to the complaint, RANJEL was a customer and cocaine distribution partner of Latin King gang members. RANJEL allegedly maintained a sizable customer base for crack cocaine sales in Aurora. On FBI phone intercepts, RANJEL was allegedly heard discussing Latin King gang business including shootings in Aurora and violent retaliation against a rival street gang. RANJEL has friends and family in Sterling, Illinois, Fairfield, Iowa, and the Mexican states of Monterrey, Jalisco, and Guadalahara. He is also known as "Droopy" to friends and among other alleged gang members. RANJEL was featured on WFLD-TV Fox 32's weekly segment "Chicago's Most Wanted" on July 29, 2006. RANJEL is described as a Hispanic male, 33 years of age, 5'8'' tall, 190 pounds, with brown/hazel eyes and black hair. Anyone having any information as to the current whereabouts of RANJEL is asked to call the Chicago FBI at (312) 421-6700 or their local police department. The public is reminded that a complaint is not evidence of guilt and that all defendants in a criminal case are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. EDITOR's NOTE: Additional copies of the attached wanted flier as well as copies of the criminal complaint filed in this case are available from the Chicago FBI Press Office at (312) 829-1199. |
